All energy costs are increasing. Alternative forms of energy will become an increasingly larger portion of the market. The technology of these markets is being developed now. TITAN is helping to solve the corrosion and equipment design problems for these evolving industries.
The hot brines coming out of the earth can be extremely corrosive with complex chemistries. Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Piping and accessory equipment are all required. Both Titanium and the high nickel alloys are being used depending on the application and the quality of the brine. Pictured is a Titanium Grade 12 primary steam generator for very corrosive brine in Southern California; designed and fabricated by TITAN.
Turning biomass into fuel, or biorefining, requires the cellulose cells to be broken with acid. The technology is still in its infancy with the industry evaluating different acids, concentrations and temperatures. TITAN is helping with budget equipment design and pricing. Titanium, Zirconium and the Hastelloys seem to be the front runners.
Pictured below from left to right are: 1) The Columns are used with a Thermosyphon Reboiler. 2) A Titanium Column used for bio-diesel production. This is one of 15 Columns produced by TITAN for installations across Europe and South America. 3) One of the Columns as installed in Germany.
This technology produces steam for generating electricity by collecting the sun’s energy. Mirrors are used to focus the sunlight on a high temperature collector. The material of construction must be able to handle the high temperatures and the molten salt solutions inside the tube. The high temperature Hastelloys will be used for the primary collectors.
If you are involved in these technologies, TITAN can help. We know all the major mills and their metallurgists. Their job is to answer your questions and solve your problems. We can get you in touch with the right people. We can supply you with equipment thermal and mechanical design along with budget pricing. Corrosion test coupons and their analysis can also be supplied. All this free of charge. Just give us a call at (805) 487-5050 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
