Inside Sales Representative
Division: Metal Finishing
Location: Northbrook, Illinois
Job Purpose:
The position is responsible for working with potential and existing customers to develop engineering designs, prepare estimates and proposals on technical projects, and manage the life cycle of small to large scale projects from conception to completion on time and within budget. This position will be key in developing customer relationships necessary to drive and increase sales. The ideal candidate will be a strong negotiator and project manager who excels in a highly fluid, entrepreneurial environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams are required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develop customer relationships necessary to drive and increase sales.
- Review inquiries and develop sales strategies in conjunction with field sales team
- Prepare estimates and quotations and follow up on proposals to secure orders
- Negotiate and secure competitive pricing on material and outside processing
- Monitor and evaluate job performance throughout the project life cycle
- Due diligence on the review of contract documentation, engineering drawings, and all other related communications with customers and their projects to minimize liabilities
- Work with project schedules to ensure all lead times and deliverables are met to ensure shipment schedules are on time
- Negotiate favorable terms with customers and suppliers consistent with company requirements
- Work with engineering, to ensure technical drawings are complete and submitted to customers and production within the time frames established
- Problem solves – Work with operations to resolve engineering and/or manufacturing questions that arise for projects under your management
- Work with customers to develop their design requirements for future projects
Qualifications:
Ability to sell and negotiate orders, strong chemical, and/or mechanical engineering knowledge
- Excellent communicator with the ability to effectively translate technical data to non-technical employees
- Ability to problem solve
- Costing and project management capabilities/experience
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and critical milestone schedules
- Proficient computer software skills and ability to work with an ERP system
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience with negotiating or sales
- 3-5 years’ experience in the metal/surface finishing industry
