Technical Sales/Project Coordinator

Division:  Engineered Products

Location:  Waller, Texas

Job Purpose:

The position is responsible for working with project managers and engineers to develop engineering designs on highly technical projects and manage the life cycle of small to large scale projects from conception to completion on time and within budget. This position will be key in expediating a project from original order to final shipment. The ideal candidate will be able to build a strong relationship between sales, production, and engineering who excels in a highly fluid, entrepreneurial environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams are required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Purchasing:

  • Set up orders consistent with customer purchase requirements
  • Negotiate and secure competitive pricing on material and outside processing is achieved
  • Work with engineering, to ensure technical drawings are complete and submitted to customers and production within the time frames established

Project Management:

  • Expedite Engineered Products projects from beginning to end of projects
  • Purchase Material for projects and expedite purchase orders
  • Write purchase orders and coordinate subcontract operations
  • Completes project budgets after completion of purchasing all materials
  • Prepare weekly or biweekly updates as required by the job specifications
  • Perform cost analysis & reporting functions
  • Review contract documentation, engineering drawings, and all other related communications with project managers to minimize project liabilities
  • Customer service to ensure a high rate of success in future work with clients
  • Meet or exceed as-sold gross margin
  • Purchase project materials at or below the estimated material price
  • Deliver commitments to project managers and clients on time
  • Utilize the sales and order management system in Epicor
  • Monitor and evaluate job performance throughout the project life cycle
  • Work with project schedules to ensure all lead times and deliverables are met to ensure shipment schedules are on time
  • Problem solves – Work with operations to resolve engineering and/or manufacturing questions that arise for projects under your management
  • Attend Scheduling Meeting
  • Attend Customer Meetings

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Manufacture management or project management experience
  • Ability to negotiate purchase orders
  • Ability to be a liaison between sales, production, and engineering
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to effectively translate technical data to non-technical employees
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Costing and project management capabilities/experience
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and critical milestone schedules
  • Proficient computer software skills and ability to work with an ERP system

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 3+ years of directly related experience in the process industry
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Negotiating experience
