Processing of chemicals, petrochemicals, and oil & gas exposes the processing equipment to highly corrosive fluids. Titanium Pressure Vessels can be highly corrosion-resistant in these extreme environments and an excellent choice for material of construction in the chemical processing, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, agricultural, fertilizer and power industries.

In order to prevent compromise of the process line, it is very important to give consideration to the impact of the manufacturing chemistry against the material of construction. If proper specification is not in place, the repair and/or replacement of equipment can result in expensive and disruptive downtime.

A Titanium Pressure Vessel possesses strong corrosive resistance to localized corrosion, cracking, and stress corrosion, thus eliminating the compromising leaks in the process.

Life Cycle Benefits of Titanium Pressure Vessels

Titanium Vessel are highly cost-effective over the entire lifecycle of the equipment.  Properly maintained, TITAN Titanium Pressure Vessels can operate for decades, making them a very economical material selection over other available metals.

Titanium Pressure Vessels can:

  • Deliver many years of economical service life
  • Eliminate expensive downtime due to equipment failure
  • Provide outstanding corrosion resistance
  • Provide excellent stress cracking resistance

Titanium the Metal

Considered the workhorse of the reactive metals, Titanium is readily available and more Titanium goes into corrosion resistant equipment fabrication than all the other reactive metals combined. In these processes, aggressive fluids come into contact with equipment surfaces often at very high temperature.

These qualities have led to acceptance and growth in the use of Titanium in pressure vessels, reactors, columns, storage tanks as well as heat exchangers and piping systems in sulfuric acid processing as well as the production of urea and other fertilizers.

Titanium Pressure Vessels perform robustly in the very harsh fluids inherent these processes. These chemicals are frequently heated to very high temperature, testing the material’s strength and corrosion resistance, yet Titanium Pressure Vessels are highly resilient when their surfaces come into contact with hostile fluids.

Titanium Pressure Vessel Designs

Titanium Pressure Vessels are some of TITAN’s most often fabricated products and are custom built in many different styles.

TITAN manufactures pressure equipment in accordance with all major international design standards and pressure vessel codes.

Manufacturing capacities include widths up to 120″ diameter, 300’ in length and weights up to 200 tons.

Designs and accessories to Titanium Vessels include:

  • Solid wall
  • Explosive clad
  • Standard jacket
  • Half pipe jacket
  • Baffles
  • Outlet valves
  • Dip tubes
  • Spargers

Titanium Corrosion Resistance

A Titanium Pressure Vessel will very often be specified for highly-corrosive industrial applications and are frequently used in processes in which chlorides are a component.

Salts, acids and other chemicals are seriously corrosive and damaging to lesser materials than Titanium. This can rapidly lead to repair and/or replacement of the equipment in short time frame, causing expensive and highly disruptive process downtime.

*Note: Final selection of material must be based on actual evaluation of the metal in the corrosive medium.
